Software Architect and CISSP
Mr Kahlo has been involved with ‘trustworthy identities on the Internet’ since the turn of the millennium, when online trading created an increasing demand. The first beginnings were realised with QES signature cards, e.g. in the federal department stores'. In 2001, he presented the first generic solutions at the Identrus System Deployment Conference with ‘Integration of Identrus signature cards in electronic business transaction systems’. Later developments focussed on multi-factor authentication and secure end-to-end communication until 2009, when the new ID card with online function (‘eID’) became increasingly relevant with the application test of ‘the big 30’. Subsequently, the projects BMI PersoApp (2013), BSI FIDELIO (2016), BSI IVID / meID (2017) were created, some of which also lead to the efforts around the BMWi project OPTIMOS 2. As a software architect with a strong focus on IT security, he continuously monitors further developments in the field and contributes to the evolution of digital identity with ideas and concepts in projects, working groups and at conferences.
IT security, identity management and critical infrastructures have been important areas of his work for many years. From 2005 to 2008, Dr Leifeld worked at Bundesdruckerei, most recently as Head of International Project and Proposal Management. He currently works with clients from the SME and public sector, focussing on the Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden and Munich regions. In his role as treasurer, Dr Leifeld is also involved in the association Kompetenzzentrum Kritische Infrastrukturen e.V. (www.kki-verein.de) and would like to develop joint topics for VSDI and KKI.
