VSDI welcomes Famedly as a new member
We are delighted to welcome Famedly GmbH as a new member of the association. Famedly is a Berlin-based technology company that specialises in secure, data protection-compliant and interoperable digital communication.
We asked Famedly to introduce themselves briefly and answer a few questions. Many thanks to Leslie Romeo, Director of Public Sector Partnerships & Strategy.
VSDI: Who is Famedly and what does the company do?
Leslie Romeo: Famedly is a young company with dedicated, highly qualified employees worldwide, which, as a remote team, has launched the first certified TI messenger on the market. With this interoperable messenger based on the Matrix protocol, we are the market leader in the healthcare sector and see great opportunities to establish a sovereign, open and secure communication ecosystem in the public sector as well.
VSDI: What topics and challenges are you currently focusing on?
Leslie Romeo: In 2024, Famedly published what is currently the only viable concept for connecting an interoperable messenger based on the Matrix protocol with the modern encryption protocol MLS (Messaging Layer Security), which was tested and approved by BWI GmbH. According to the BSI, this enables secure, sovereign communication at the VS-NfD security level without a separate VPN. We are currently working on implementing this concept for the use of the messenger in all areas of the public sector.
VSDI: What role do secure digital identities and solutions such as the EUDI Wallet play in your working environment?
Leslie Romeo: For any secure and binding communication, the most essential prerequisite is the unambiguous identification and subsequent authentication of the participants involved. Secure confirmation of additional data is usually necessary in the course of communication. Incidentally, this applies to both natural and legal persons. The EUDI Wallet, and later the European Business Wallet (EUBW), are the perfect tools for meeting these requirements easily, securely and confidently.
VSDI: In a nutshell, what is your greatest hope for the EUDI Wallet?
Leslie Romeo: To finally have a fast, simple and seamless way for everyone to securely identify themselves online and confirm their data.
VSDI: What are you most looking forward to in your collaboration with the association and its members?
Leslie Romeo: Personally, I am most looking forward to meeting competent and interesting personalities and tackling and solving the current challenges of digitalisation, especially administrative digitalisation, in a collegial, collaborative environment.
Welcome, we look forward to working with you in our network!
