VSDI on the coalition agreement: Important impetus for strengthening digital identities

The new coalition agreement differs from the previous ones because a separate ministry for digitalisation and state modernisation is to be set up for the first time. The VSDI sees it as promising if the two topics are given a joint key role. Digitalisation is seen as a lever and driver for the ambitious modernisation of the state. Attempts are being made in almost all policy areas to open up new opportunities through digitally driven solutions and future technologies such as AI and to counteract previous deficits in efficiency, transparency or functionality. The centralisation and consolidation of digital policy management that has now been initiated with the new ministry is an important step, especially because it is accompanied by many other ideas and plans for modernising the administration in the coalition agreement. From the VSDI's perspective, important impetus is being provided to strengthen digital identities, such as a dedicated ecosystem centred around the EUDI wallet. The important thing now is to start implementation quickly.
